In an arts world coup for Melbourne, the biggest collection of works from New York's famed Guggenheim Museum is currently on show at the National Gallery of Victoria. But there's not a Pisarro or a Picasso in sight.

The cutators have decided to concentrate on post-World War II works. 170-thousand arts tourists — and locals — will see the show before it closes.

A huge turn-out for a show that's not exhibiting anything from before the 1940s.

But the quality of the works mean that many of the artists are recognisable by surname alone.

Pollock, Rothko, Lichtenstein, and Warhol — a line-up of some of the most recognisable artists from the last century. This exhibit is only on for the next week in Melbourne and won't be travelling anywhere else in the country.
