The first major retrospective of Sidney Nolan's painting since his death fifteen years ago opened this weekend at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
With it, came the debate of whether indeed he was the greatest Australian painter of the 20th century and if so, what was the secret of his genius.
This unique perspective on Nolan's life came about after producer Catherine Hunter combed through Nolan's writings and personal diaries to put together an account of the places and stories that so inspired his work.
The Sidney Nolan retrospective at the Art Gallery of New South until early February after which it will travel to Melbourne and Brisbane.
